The General Services Administration (GSA) is continuing efforts to consolidate its multiple-award schedules and modernize its government acquisition platforms.
Late in the summer, GSA announced plans to discontinue the Federal Business Opportunities contracting website and transition it into a unified System for Award Management.
The beta SAM.gov platform covers federal assistance, acquisition procedures, past performance data and contractor performance assessments.
FedBizOpps will not be available after Nov. 12, as GSA merges that website with nine others onto its beta.SAM.gov site.
Last month, GSA completed phase one of the Multiple Award Schedules consolidation effort and reduced the number of special item numbers to 300.
Following transitions due to completed over the next several months --when the consolidation is complete -- 24 schedules will be merged into a single, comprehensive schedule.
The goal of the consolidation is to reduce operational costs, increase access to commercial solutions, and enhance competition.
